What does this mean?
How can your services aid me?
Professional installation of an engineered network will assist you in keeping your information in your possession. Using hardened enterprise equipment designed to repel the constant barrage of security threats corporations encounter, will keep your equipment and data more secure.
What is UTM? UTM = Unified Threat Management; A combination of several network security counter-measures traditionally sold as separate technology through different vendors. UTM combines security technologies such as Firewall, Intrusion Detection System (IDS)/Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Antivirus, Antispyware, VPN, Web Filtering and Anti-spam into one integrated device. The best UTM devices accomplish integration by developing products within the company instead of having to depend on outside vendors and then reintegrate the independent technology.
Why are Fortinet products a superior UTM solution? All FortiGate hardware platforms feature FortiASIC™ processors, which provide hardware acceleration and dedicated processing power specifically for security services. FortiGate platforms also leverage the FortiOS™ security operating system to tightly integrate with the FortiASIC processors and other hardware to provide a comprehensive and high-performance array of fully integrated and proprietary security and networking functions including:
  • Firewall, VPN and Traffic Optimization
  • Antivirus / Antispyware / Antimalware
  • Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
  • Web Filtering
  • Antispam
  • Layer 2/3 routing
How is Proxim Wireless equipment better? Proxim wireless devices are designed to the latest IEEE standards with features such as POE, multiple SSIDs and tri-mode radio for simultaneous repeater & access point functionality, along with many other features not found in off-the-shelf products. These along with many security features assist the user being able to use a wireless network as a stable business option, not just a convenience.

What is a network?

A network is means of connecting two or more similar objects together to transfer information, such as a telephone system. Connecting telephones together creates a network by which we can all use to communicate verbally. Computers use a similar method to transmit data to each other.

What is LAN, WAN, WLAN,
VLAN, VOIP, WIFI ?

LAN = Local Area Network; a network of local( usually the same building) devices
WAN = Wide Area Network; a network of devices not in the same building and often not in the same town
WLAN = Wireless Local Area Network; the same as a LAN but using wireless technology instead of direct wired lines
VLAN = Virtual Local Area Network; a manipulation of network traffic to simulate multiple seperate physical networks, used to isolate different network data
VOIP = Voice over Internet Protocol; Internet Protocol is the language by which computers communicate, VOIP converts our voice into data and sends that data in a streamed format to a receiving unit to be converted back into audible sound.
WIFI = originally being an abreviation for Wireless Fidelity, now simply is a reference to WLAN.
